The third event in the Digital Product Passport & Traceability series, entitled “DPP for Steel: On the Verge of Implementation,” will take place on 25 November 2026 in Rome. The event is co-organised with and hosted by RINA Consulting – Centro Sviluppo Materiali S.p.A.
The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is designed to enhance transparency, traceability and circularity across industrial value chains and represents a key component of the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
As one of the priority sectors identified under the ESPR Working Plan, the steel industry is entering a critical phase in the development and implementation of the DPP. With work progressing on product information requirements, carbon-footprint reporting, interoperability and practical implementation, the event will provide a timely forum for stakeholders to identify the key steps towards successful deployment and discuss the challenges facing the steel sector.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- gain insights into the evolving European regulatory landscape;
- explore how digital technologies can support traceability and environmental data exchange;
- discuss requirements related to interoperability and carbon-footprint reporting;
- learn from industry partners’ first-hand experiences and preparatory activities for DPP implementation; and
- identify common challenges, priorities and potential pathways towards effective deployment.
The event aims to foster meaningful dialogue among policymakers, industry representatives, technology experts and key research projects, supporting the successful deployment of Digital Product Passports and accelerating Europe’s transition towards a more digital, circular and sustainable steel industry. About the DPP Event Series
“Digital Product Passport & Traceability: DPP for Steel – On the Verge of Implementation” is the third event in the series launched by the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) together with the Division Clean Industrial & Energy Systems of the I-SENSE Group. With these events, ICCS aims to provide a platform to promote cooperation and ideas exchange, identify common challenges, strategies and novelties leading the transition towards a common approach for DPPs.
